Displaced Effort Working Group
A Displaced Effort Working Group was formed to address commercial fishing displaced by the introduction of marine parks.
It included representatives from:
- commercial fishing industries
- aquaculture industries
- PIRSA Fisheries
- PIRSA Aquaculture
- DEWNR.
While every effort will be made to ensure marine parks will have minimal effect on commercial fishers, the State Government recognises that existing users may be displaced in some areas.
The Marine Parks Act 2007 provides for the creation, zoning and management of marine parks, including equitable management of displaced commercial fishing.
